It's from Chris Weinkopf of the Los Angeles Daily News, and it's brilliant. Here's a brief sample:
For 90 minutes, "Expelled" puts its targets in the same uncomfortable, unfair position in which believers have long found themselves in academia and the media. In turning the tables this way, the movie reveals, cleverly and amusingly, that you don't need to believe in God to be a zealot.
Read the rest of it here.
I bet you do. :-D :-D

Rubbish. I love that word.
As [lie] for [lie] you [lie] John, [lie] I'll [lie] take [lie] your [lie] non-denial [lie] of [lie] being [lie] sad [lie] as [lie] a [lie] tacit [lie] omission [lie] of [lie] your [lie] moribund [lie] emotional [lie] state.
Posted by: Kevin Miller | May 08, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Oh, rubbish. You don't know whether someone is sad or not.
Posted by: Cheezits | May 08, 2008 at 09:27 AM
Kevin lied:
"No, Cheezits, it's what rational but fatigued people conclude once they realize further engagement is futile."
You never engaged to begin with, Kevin, because you know your position is indefensible.

It's not stupid, Cheezits. The guy is obsessing over every little thing I write. Clearly, he has nothing better to do. That's sad. He also seems very angry and embittered. Which is also sad.

Oh, in that case I guess I feel sorry for you, you must be such an unhappy person. :-D Seriously, what a stupid thing to say.

No, Cheezits, it's what rational but fatigued people conclude once they realize further engagement is futile.

*ROFL* Expression of grief, my butt! It's what cranks usually resort to when they don't have an argument - just claim to "feel sorry" for the other person. :-D It is a form of ad hominem.
Posted by: Cheezits | May 08, 2008 at 05:15 AM
It wasn't an ad hominem attack, John. It was an expression of grief.
Posted by: Kevin Miller | May 07, 2008 at 09:19 AM
Your resort to ad hominem (after my calling you on your ad hominem lie) shows that you intend to deceive, Kevin.
How did you determine that the Ninth Commandment doesn't apply to you again?
Posted by: John | May 07, 2008 at 06:27 AM
John, I'm really starting to feel sorry for you. You must be a very unhappy person.

Hey Kevin I have a question, will the film be released on Blu-Ray? I think seeing Ben Stein and the others in High Definition would bring a whole new level of appreciation. Also is it true you are releasing a special extended, unrated version? This would be awesome!! Wooo!!
Thanks, Im a big fan of your work!

Kevin,
Your tacit admission that you were lying when you claimed that dozens of atheist scientists argue that "evolution disproves God" is noted.
Posted by: John | May 06, 2008 at 04:01 PM
Thia FALL? This FALL? Dude I am going to picket outside any theater that is showing your flick until you guys turn loose of some DVDs!
Posted by: Boris | May 06, 2008 at 03:32 PM
Too bad to hear you missed it in theaters, John. Guess you'll just have to pick up the DVD this fall.
Posted by: Kevin Miller | May 06, 2008 at 03:28 PM
The movie's been expelled from my local theater. Why don't you just prove that all of those people make the explicit argument that evolution disproves God?
"We cannot, of course, disprove God, just as we can't disprove Thor, fairies, leprechauns and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. But, like those other fantasies that we can't disprove, we can say that God is very very improbable."
-Richard Dawkins

Hey [lie] John [lie] have [lie] you [lie] seen [lie] the [lie] movie [lie] yet? [lie] Because [lie] if [lie] you [lie] had [lie] you'd [lie] know [lie] how [lie] ridiculous [lie] your [lie] question [lie] is.
Posted by: Kevin Miller | May 06, 2008 at 01:48 PM
John,
He says and I quote " The reason I don't believe in a God is, hum... because of Evolution. which totally proves there is no God"
Dawkins used a a litte g in God though

Chad said: "The only people that believe that evolution disproves god are biblical literalist and creationist."
Kevin lied: "Um, you probably want to add Richard Dawkins, PZ Myers, Will Provine, Sam Harris, and dozens of other atheist scientists to your list, Chad. They're the only ones who make this argument in Expelled."
Um, point me to the part of Expelled in which Dawkins argues that evolution DISPROVES God.
Damn, you are a dishonest hack, Kevin.
Why do you think that you can violate the Ninth Commandment to advance your political views? Is there an escape clause somewhere in the Bible?
What mental gymnastics and rank dishonesty can get you from, “I think that God is about as unlikely as fairies, angels, hobgoblins,” to pretending that this is a claim that "evolution disproves God"?

" but reject the ideological claim that natural selection rules out the possibility of God."
There is no logical way to draw this conclusion. Natural selection is simply an understanding of methodological change of an organism. The only people that believe that evolution disproves god are biblical literalist and creationist. ( The very people he denies are in the movie but really are )

Yeah I wish this journalist wouldn't read into the movie, instead I wish he'd gloss over it and get the facts from Expelled Exposed.
Posted by: Jeffery S | May 06, 2008 at 09:55 AM
I missed this little gem:
"They accept the scientific evidence for evolution - specifically, its role in the development of species - but reject the ideological claim that natural selection rules out the possibility of God."
First of all, many of them do not accept even the most basic component of evolution, namely common descent. Second, what on Earth does natural selection have to do with God? This is what happens when hack journalism collides with modern science.

"For 90 minutes, "Expelled" puts its targets in the same uncomfortable, unfair position in which believers have long found themselves in academia..."
That's right, Ken Miller has been ruthlessly persecuted to the extent of being appointed professor of biology at Brown University. They even forced the poor man to write a highschool textbook. Same with Francis Collins et al.
I think Chris Weinkopf is reading too much into your movie. If only you were so clever as to pull off such a parody piece, but alas it is just vile propaganda designed to rile the Christian fundamentalists.
One thing I don't really understand: why have you people made so much of Ruse's speculation about the origin of life? It's a speculation rooted in the testable, physical realm. If Godditit then we may as well pack up the science and give up. But then, maybe that's what you people really want.
(P.S. I assume you're working on those 5 answers...)
